Introduction to Live Coding and Sound Synthesis: Workshop

Join live coding duo Algobabez (Joanne Armitage and Shelly Knotts from London platform Music Hackspace) in this workshop where you will be introduced to the basics of making music with code in SuperCollider, including sound synthesis and patterns. No previous experience with SuperCollider, coding or music making is required to participate. SuperCollider is a powerful, open-source, cross-platform, audio engine and programming language, used not only to create music, but also for machine learning, audio/music reactive installations, performance, interactive systems, research, live coding and much more.
You’ll need to bring a laptop (OSX / Windows/ Linux) with SuperCollider installed and a pair of headphones. SuperCollider can be downloaded for free here. For any queries about installing SuperCollider please contact us by email.
Music Hackspace is a London platform and community experimenting and interacting with music, technology and sound organising regular DIY workshops, events and artistic residencies. Music Hackspace is a Somerset House Studios Resident and is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
