D Numbers (US)

CANADIAN PREMIERE

A three-piece rock band that taps deeply into electronics, D Numbers build every track live from the ground up, applying a combination of self-sampling, looping and effects to their playing. For the last eight years, the band has been honing its style of on-the-fly groove, caught somewhere between the post-rock textures of Tortoise and the ecstatically organic grooves of disco-jam rockers Tussle. Their latest album, « Onda », exemplifies this stylistic spread, while also managing to express something about the place the music comes from: in their case, the music is redolent of the warm temperatures and sprawling landscape of the American southwest. They are coming to Montreal as part of the Vice Verse tour, a transnational showcase of more than 15 artists affiliated with Boulder’s Communikey and Belgrade’s Dis-Patch festivals, which will be travelling across North America this spring and Eastern Europe this fall.
