Chris McNamara presents Nospectacle (CA/US)

A recombinant music and video affair based in Detroit, NOSPECTACLE improvises from the evocative music and film works of media artist Chris McNamara. A member of the loose Detroit/Windsor based gathering of audio-visual artists, poets, DJs and musicians called Thinkbox Collective, McNamara uses his own compositions as settings for his video works, and he uses his ambient video elements to compose more music, a process he describes as, “a perpetual motion machine (sort of).” The trio of artists that makes up NOSPECTACLE includes Jennifer Paull and Walter Wasacz, who bring with them backgrounds in electronic arts, performance, photography and music criticism. Together, they concoct a live audio and video experience using original footage that they spontaneously edit and remix according to the sonic unfolding around them. Exploring the sensual relationship between the seen and the heard, NOSPECTACLE delivers a heady mix that plays between ethereality and narrative, interference and melody.
