Minibloc is the duo of Anne-Françoise Jacques and Nicolas Dion. Minibloc use amplified objects, small electronic circuits and manipulate field recordings to create live sound performances, occasional radio pieces and, recently, sound installations.
Until now, Minibloc played concerts in Montreal, Quebec City, Rimouski, Winnipeg and Berlin. Minibloc's first full-lenght cd, "Carton micro récréation", was released with Le Son 666 collective.

The product of a meeting between an animated autodidact (Nicolas Dion-member of numerous Montreal groups, e.g. the trio Intercom) and a scholar in classical music as well as electro-acoustic arrangements (Anne-Françoise Jacques), Minibloc is a formation whose compositions play with the rules. By way of its recordings of diverse but unintelligible sources, as well as reconstructed everyday sounds, the duo devises tantalizingly abstract yet coherent pieces. Melding electro-acoustic collages with minimal bursts and sonic improvisations, the duo's compositions are playful, while remaining as intriguing as they are unpredictable-just like their performances. Their MUTEK show will feature an array of colourful, noisy objects, producing often totally deformed, deftly executed sounds interacting with the venue's acoustics.
