MUTEK is proud to welcome Martux_M and his dynamic cohort, master of images Mattia Casalegno. Both members of the trio Metaxu, their project as a duo exudes the mysteriousness of their place of origin: Naples. Martux_M aka Maurizio Martusciello is one of the most prolific composers from the transalpine peninsula. Founding member of Metaxu and of Zelle, his substantial discography and his numerous projects and partnerships demonstrate a very active involvement in the electronic scene. In addition to be one of the cofounders of the label DSP recordings, one of the main italian realities devoted to electronic music, and acting as a programmer for the Sensoralia festival and founder of the Avatar41 collective, he often collaborates with famed experimental film group Cane Capovolto. Profoundly cinematographic, evoking sensual, yet ambiguous sensations, the music of Martux_M functions on the tension between the dissemination of sounds and the effects they elicit once processed by the listener. This dimension of the performance will be magnificently articulated thanks to the help of video artist Mattia Casalegno. The essence of a video artist, in constant research of emerging forms designed to stimulate the confrontation between diverse digital mediums, merging organic elements with compu-generated data streams, is what Mattia embodies. Seemingly tangible sketches of elusive memories and desires being reformed by sound, this performance proposes to take you on an evocative and insightful voyage to the heart of hybridization.
