Robert Henke (archive) (DE)
With this performance, in essence representing a truly digital sonic sculpture, Studies for Thunder yields the discovery of a new facet of German artist Robert Henke-also know under the pseudonym Monolake. Presented as a world premiere last April at MUTEK.MX (the first edition of the MUTEK festival in Mexico), this atmospheric opus unfolds in Montreal with a special version adapted for a multi-channel environment with eight loudspeakers. With his harmonic musical structures tinted with powerful and piercing environmental noises, Henke will transport you to the heart of an artificial storm, to the eye of the hurricane so to speak. Completely created by computer manipulation of filtered sounds from recurring bursts, this demonstration is a supreme homage to the almighty forces of nature and all its beauty. Supported by Elektronisches Studio der Technischen Universität Berlin.
