Mathias Kaden (DE)

CANADIAN DEBUT Mathias Kaden is a turntablist in the truest sense of the word, possessing an intuition for crowd and occasion like few others in his beloved vocation. Kaden caught the electronic virus in his hometown of Gera, in the former German Democratic Republic, drawing inspiration from the house and techno being played at the Bioxultra club. Kaden would later go on to impart his own unique take on contemporary house and techno sounds, playing his painstakingly selected vinyl at the most prestigious international venues, such as Fabric, Rex Paris and the Sonar festival, not to mention our very own MUTEK. As a producer, Mathias Kaden has proven himself to be a primary force in the vanguard of up-and-coming German electronic practitioners. Whether it’s in the form of percussive, tribal tech-house tracks through boutique labels like Vakant, or his dark and glitchy minimal work on the Wighnomy Brothers’ Freude Am Tanzen imprint, Kaden productions find themselves slipping effortlessly into all the right places.
