Monolake vs nAnalog
For MUTEK 2005, Monolake – a name which for the last few years has been solely attached to Robert Henke-is resurfacing as a duo, even though the second member prefers to remain in the shadows. Largely based on his newest opus Polygon_cities, the presentation offered by Henke and his cohort known as 'T++' combines the traditional characteristics of Monolake creations with the energetic pulse of constant permutations. By deconstructing and rearranging their proposed material, they intend to put improvisation and interaction at the vanguard of their performance. The last year has also seen Monolake integrate a visual dimension into his shows, namely a self written real-time video generator creating abstract moving images, linked to the music's development and progression. For MUTEK 2005, the setup will be slightly more advanced as Monolake has enlisted the talents of Montreal duo nAnalog to help enrich the visuals. Mixing Monolake's visual sources with their own, nAnalog will redistribute the finished product as a unique videographic demonstration adapted for the occasion, acting as an equal counterpart to the soundtrack of the performance.
