Troy Pierce (US)
Raised on Midwestern rave music, Troy Pierce grew up in Indiana before moving to New York City to study photography. There he dug into the minimal sounds on sale at his housemate's infamous record retailer, Temple. After meeting Magda at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2001, and Marc Houle half a year later, the Run Stop Restore project was born as a long-distance collaboration which came to fruition only after Pierce had moved to Berlin. He's since become not only one of Berlin's key DJs but a formidable solo producer with releases on Minus (as Run and Slacknoise), Mo's Ferry, and the Underline label (as Louderbach); most recently, his remixes for the likes of Ellen Allien, Lieb Ist Cool, the Knife, Donnacha Costello, Lawrence and Chelonis R. Jones have solidified his standing as one of the most in-demand producers on the electronic scene—call it “minimal,” “techno,” or otherwise.
