We'll have the occasion to see PhiLipp Geist [Videogeist] at work many times throughout MUTEK 2004 as he'll be a special guest for shows by Schneider TM, Ilpo Väisänen, kptmichigan and Angel. Since his first installation in Berlin in 1990, the young painter/photographer has greatly expanded his presence working along side young sonic artists on the German scene. Whether it's in the studio, creating numerous video-clips for artists such as Console, Phonem, Beige, Phillip Boa, or touring with Schneider TM, Egoexpress, Tobias Thomas or Carsten Jost, Videogeist has forged a firm reputation that now largely surpasses his initial rise to prominence as a VJ. Today, decisively established as a video-graphic artist who's in high demand at various biennales and expositions, PhiLipp Geist strives to define the ideal visual component to accentuate the aural offerings from musicians. This approach, working in a complimentary fashion and relying heavily on cooperation, has allowed Geist to reveal a style of work very recognizable, yet very personal. Philipp will be performing live visuals for: Schneider TM, Ilpo vaisannen, kpt michigan and Angel.

The Berlin artist Philipp Geist (1976) showed a 4D mapping installation on the facade of the royal throne in Bangkok on the occasion of king Bhumibol's 82nd birthday in December 2009. The one-hour-show was the central part of the celebrations and was seen by 2-3 million of visitors. His works were shown at the Dissonanze Festival in Rome, at Clubtransmediale in Berlin and at the Mutek Festival in Montreal which is renowned for new media. He has exhibited his live video performances internationally at the Central House of Artists (CHA) in Moscow, the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in London, the National Gallery in Warsaw (Zacheta) and at the opening of the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich. Further projects are characterized by their complexity and the integration of the location, the sound and moving images.
