NomIg (CA)

Since their meeting in 1999, the nomig duo have created new media works in response to mainstream media, politics and the marketization of the urban space.  In 2007 NomIg. started exploring largescale projection works on buildings as a response to the growing corporate trend of projection-based marketing. Initially based on new modes of graffiti, these works have been steadily heading towards incorporating and working with the architextural elements of the buildings as part of their canvas.

The ArchiTextures concept was a seed planted years back when MUTEK director Alain Mongeau first mentioned the idea of merging video and architecture.  This 2011 presentation is the germination of that seed.

Society for Arts and Technology [SAT] 25/02/2009

Since their coming together in 2000, the nomigs have avoided the trends and managed to contribute to festivals (both as team members as well as artists) around the world with little public recognition. Consistently misspelled, NomIg. are dedicated to A/V art; both in its audiovisual and ambient video forms. Currently their work is heavily focused on Video Painting. They also continue to develop media activist initiatives through online projects as well as through their continued work with Coldcut.
