Mike Shannon (CA)
In the 10 years since Mike Shannon started making a name for himself on the international electronic music scene as a DJ, producer and label owner, he has proven that it’s not just his music that makes him such a valuable asset, but his total dedication to the cause.
Shannon’s career began through DJing and clubbing in the Detroit-Toronto axis, and in 1999 this led to the formation of his own label Cynosure. A couple of years later, he teamed up with Jeff Milligan on the more experimental Revolver Canada imprint. Both labels have since developed into highly respected and trusted sources, subsequently raising the profile of Canada’s electronic music scene with producers such as Akufen and Deadbeat. Alongside his many singles, he has released three albums to date on some of techno’s most notable labels: 2002’s Slight of Hand (Force Inc.), 2005’s Possible Conclusions to Stories That Never End (~scape), and 2008’s Memory Tree (Plus 8).
Nowadays a resident of Berlin, this year Mike Shannon returns to Montreal to celebrate Cynosure’s 10th anniversary alongside the festival that helped propel him to international notoriety.
