Coin Gutter (CA)
Graeme Scott and Michael Hendrix spent numerous years in rock groups before switching to electroacoustic music in 2000. Many critics have been seduced by their ingenious approach that is at once epic and intimate. Coin Gutter's music of impressionistic fractures evokes references to the work of Western Canadian landscape painters. The result is eclectic and refreshing, with numerous influences that are always skillfully integrated. The work of Hendrix and Scott, at the limits of improvisation and composition, illustrates the primordial character of nature. Coin Gutter runs the Vanity record label and has just recorded an album for No Type, 'All your dreams are meaningless,' that should delight fans of all hybrid approaches to contemporary music.
