tobias. (DE)

[NORTH AMERICAN PREMIERE/EXCLUSIVE]

tobias. is the current dancefloor manifestation of the prolific Tobias Freund, a veteran of the German electronic music scene. Ever since releasing his first single in 1989 as Sieg über die Sonne – his duo with Dandy Jack, another MUTEK_10 performer – Freund has explored a number of solo aliases (Pink Elln, Phobia, Zoon, Metazone) over the years, as well as several collaborations (the aforementioned Sieg, Odd Machine with Ricardo Villalobos, and Vo Ese with Victor Sol).

Nowadays, Tobias’ main solo efforts revolve around the tobias. alias, while his main collaboration consists of NSI, with Max Loderbauer, formerly of the experimental 90s duo Sun Electric.

Both these projects will be featured at MUTEK_10, and both have introduced Freund to a new generation of electronic music fans.  Though a driving force in the current German scene, Freund has had minimal contact with North American audiences so far, and this edition of MUTEK hopes to rectify that.
