Ghislain Poirier has been a pillar and world-renowned ambassador of Montreal’s electronic music scene since the early 2000s. A restless, forward-thinking producer, he’s successfully dabbled in synth-infused soca, dancehall, abstract hip-hop and electro. Deeply involved in the city’s nightlife, he’s been responsible for some of Montreal’s most mythical soirees, including the now-defunct Bounce le gros nights, and the ongoing Karnival. Now back with Boundary, a project of dark, cinematic electronic music, Poirier comes full circle, back to his beginnings in experimental ambient, IDM and techno. He explores hard-hitting, minimalist soundscapes where dark timbres and complex rhythms can alter both bodies and minds. For Boundary’s world premiere performance at MUTEK 2013, Poirier will be accompanied by Chris Olsen, with whom he produced the album, on electronic drums.
