Steve Bates (CA)

After an early love-affair with punk rock, Steve developed an interest in more experimental forms of organizing sound into improvised and composed music, radio, and installation projects.

This expanded notion of working with sonic material eventually lead to founding a sound art festival in Winnipeg, Send + Receive: A Festival of Sound, which he directed for 8 years. He currently lives in Montréal and works as the Sound Coordinator at Hexagram Institute for Research/Creation in Media Arts and Technologies at Concordia University. His next CD will be released by Oral in Fall, 2009.
