As WNDFRM (formerly known as Cloudburst), Tim Westcott, a Canadian sound artist and producer based in Portland, Oregon specializes in carving out musical space between dub techno and ambient drone, using a percussive arsenal awash in digital effects and field recordings. Highly structured, WNDFRM’s music eases into tonal shifts, from slow and meditative to unrelentingly intense. WNDFRM released a 2013 EP, c60/tmkutekt, on London-Tokyo experimental electro-folk label Home Normal, and has contributed tracks to compilations from Tamarack Music, Headphone Commute, Portland-based Nueva Forma, and more. As Cloudburst, Westcott split a 12” with Mike Jedlicka on Optic Echo Records, and his music appears under his own name on the soundtrack to two Dutch documentaries. Along with a live set at MUTEK in 2013, WNDFRM recently played Seattle’s Decibel fest, the Closer Electronic Music Festival in Portland, and Denmark’s Sensory Festival.
