Ben Frost A U R O R A (IS)

Australian musician and producer Ben Frost has been creating all-encompassing aural atmospheres for over a decade. Frost’s penchant for cinematically blending industrial found sounds and established genres – everything from punk to opera and the cacophonous to the sublime – always exudes a natural, emotionally-driven synchronicity, especially among his most recent collaborations with musicians Brian Eno, Tim Hecker, Swans and Colin Stetson, choreographers Wayne McGregor and Akram Khan, filmmakers Julia Leigh and Marc Silver, and visual artist Richard Mosse. Whether crafting solo albums such as 2009’s fascinating, By The Throat, or pairing on other’s projects, Frost follows his instincts to craft music that might captivate with romance one minute and sheer sonic intensity the next. For several years, Frost has called Iceland home, where he plays an integral part in experimental record label and artist collective, Bedroom Community. He returns for the third time in 2014, after live sets in 2008 and 2010, with his brand new, comparatively minimalist album, A U R O R A, and a four-piece band.
