LEX Studio (Alexis Laurence) (CA)

Montréal’s Lex Studio dwells at the intersection of art and technology, constructing ingenious multimedia environments for stage performances, television, exhibition spaces and architectural projections. In 2008, Alexis Laurence founded LEX as a way to elevate his artistic ideas on a grand scale, working on visionary custom set-design and visual-production projects with Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Eloize, Moment Factory, GSM Project, MUTEK, Igloofest and Montréal’s central entertainment district Quartier des spectacles. For MUTEK 2012 in Mexico City, he crafted volcano-themed scenography for Baillat Cardell & fils’ projection-mapped visuals linked to live music, and for Mexico's 2013 edition he built a stunning scenography that was an optical graphical canvas representing the festival's 10th anniversary. For MUTEK 2013 in Montréal, he set the stage to evolve over three nights at Métropolis, an ever-deepening 3D structure of triangles and curves. For EM15, Laurence constructs two dynamic stage environments for a barrage of innovative video artists and music makers at the Musée d’art contemporain and at Métropolis for the Friday and Saturday night programs.
