Artist and musician Jason Corder makes his home in Denver, Colorado, but lives a global-underground professional existence. For over a decade, Corder has produced ambient electronic music as offthesky, Color Cassette, Juxta Phona and The Writing Life, releasing over 30 albums on labels Home Normal, Hibernate, 12k’s term and Zymogen. His music-making process, including his penchant for acoustic and electronic multi-instrumentalism and altering of natural-world field recordings into melodic and percussive patterns, heavily influences his video and installation art, composed of eerily-familiar, shadow-saturated images bordering on the abstract. Among Corder’s numerous performances as musician and as video artist, he’s played the Decibel, Communikey and MUTEK festivals, shared stages with Robert Henke, Andy Stott, Pole and Matmos, and steered visuals for Nicolas Jaar. He’ll join EM15 to create live visuals for Ricardo Villalobos and Max Loderbauer’s Re:ECM performance at the Impérial.
