DÉbruit

DÉbruit

Joyous breakbeat and clamorous techno converge in the hands of French artist and consummate entertainer Xavier Thomas under the moniker Débruit. Heavily influenced by both West Coast hip hop and the rhythms, melodic scales and instrumentation of Senegalese, Haitian and Middle Eastern music, Débruit revels in crafting alternate musical universes where borders break down and clashes work. Since 2009, he’s released four albums and five EPs including dancer favourite the electro afrobeat EP Spatio Temporel and critically lauded sparkling synth funk album, From the Horizon, on London label Civil Music. He’s collaborated with Jamie Woon, Om’Mas Keith, The Bow and most recently with Alsarah on a genre bending electro album full of stirring vocals and magnificently wonky techno. Since taking the RBMA stage at Sonar in 2009, Débruit has continued to play festivals and vanguard clubs throughout Europe, the UK and North America – he makes his MUTEK debut with a kinetic live set of new multisensorial material. In collaboration with KIKK Festival with the support of the Québec government and Wallonie-Bruxelles International.
