(2005-06-03) PANEL 5

Hotel Opus

In Western Europe and North America, electronic music has enjoyed vibrant communities and international attention from the start. However, there are other regions in the world where artists and the their audiences have been working uninterrupted and mostly unnoticed by the rest of the world. This panel introduces us to some of the people working in electronic music’s peripheral markets. These speakers will discuss how electronic music has influenced their musical communities, what infrastructures have been created to support this talent, and how the socio-economic status of their countries has affected their output. For North American artists and labels interested in exploring these emerging communities, this conversation will provide an eye-opening look into the broad range of electronic music’s less obvious pockets.
