(2016-06-05) NOCTURNE 5

BWR Room

Main Room

On the final night of the festival, NOCTURNE 5 creates a celebratory, carefree atmosphere featuring the mutational, digital/analog jazz of FLANGER, the inimitable German duo of Uwe Schmidt and Bernd Friedmann in the debut of a live show based on their first album in five years, Lollopy Dripper. NYC-based Canadian cellist and composer JULIA KENT draws our attention with looping pedal compositions and riveting soundscapes. And masterful musicians DAWN OF MIDI meld classic jazz trio instrumentation into minimal electronica, experimental techno, and post rock progression and grooves. Amsterdam-based left field, jazz flavoured, electronic producer FRITS WENTINK joins the final night fray with the premiere of his first live show under this alias. And, Montréal producers Guillaume Coutu-Dumont and Ernesto Ferreyra as micro-house duo CHIC MINIATURE, close it down upstairs.

The vibe rolls on in the BWR with sets dedicated to the swing and sway with the slow microhouse of DULL; Belgian wobbly house and techno artist LAWRENCE LE DOUX, local house and sunny synth star PROJECT PABLO and the jazz/techno undertow of LOCAL ARTIST from Vancouver; and local luminary OHM HOURANI with singer DO MI unfolds his long form trippy.
