British duo Demdike Stare, founded in Manchester back in 2009, first registered on electronic music radars with its releases on the Modern Love label. Miles Whittaker (aka MLZ, Millie and half of the dub techno duo Pendle Coven) and Sean Canty, accomplished crate digger for legendary label Finders Keepers, quickly rose to acclaim with their unique take on ambient dub. Drawing from a vast catalogue of samples, Whittaker and Canty explore the deeper recesses of world music as well Nordic drone and Scandinavian glitch.

Demdike Stare, who performed their North American debut set at a MUTEK Nocturne in 2010, will return to Montreal for the April 19th AVANT_MUTEK event, along with Pole, Jacaszek, and Miles.
