The founder of Playmind, Emmanuel is a new media designer and tech artist, who creates public environments that are both interactive and immersive. Since his first interactive video piece, STATION MIMÉTIQUE, presented on St. Catherine street at the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) in 2002, he aims to create digital works that creatively and poetically juxtapose the passerby with the urban space around them. The starting points in his process are fragments of history, and of individual and collective memory, as well as encounters with neighbourhood residents. He has a master’s degree in communications specializing in interactive multimedia from Université du Québec à Montréal, as well as an undergraduate degree in electroacoustic composition from Université de Montréal. He also occasionally teaches new media at UQAM.
