Rrose is the first new artist to release music on the Sandwell District label since Silent Servant joined the collective in 2006. Rrose produced four vinyl releases for the label in 2011, including a collaboration with improv legend, political activist, and professor Bob Ostertag, named one of the top 50 releases of 2011 by The Wire magazine. The music of Rrose demonstrates a deep knowledge of the roots of both techno and pre-techno electronic music. Other identifying features include an uncommon attention to sonic detail and a focus on gradual, interconnected transformations of material. Rrose productions have been described as dark, dirty, raw, hypnotic, needling, tunneling, and tactile. Under other names, Rrose has been active as a producer and performer since the mid-1990s. In 2012, Rrose will launch a new label entitled Eaux.
