Dutch-born, Washington-based Martyn first set pulses racing in 2005 with a string of drum & bass releases, before taking the electronic music panorama by storm, with Broken/Shadowcasting – a genre-defying twelve that found its way into the record crates of heavyweights such as Kode9, Gilles Peterson and Pole. Whether on his Fabric 50 mix, 2009’s Great Lengths (3024) or 2011’s Ghost People (Brainfeeder), this adventurous Dutch hero has proven incredibly adept at exploring the fractured space between meditative dubstep and four-to-the-floor techno. He brings that same aplomb to his 3024 imprint, whose roster has included Jacques Greene, Julio Bashmore and Addison Groove. After his Canadian debut at MUTEK 2008 and a cross-Canadian RBMA/MUTEK tour last spring, Martyn returns to the festival with a new EP (Newspeak) and The Air Between Your Words, a new A/V show that places his music in a total environment.
