International Festival of Digital Creativity and Electronic Music
Nocturne 2: May 30, 2013, 22:00 - 03:00
A mystical Montreal techno duo with equally enigmatic live productions, Pulses finds Dom Dumoulin (formerly known as Snork) and Patrice Tremblay (also known as Bushido of the 64hz collective) blurring the lines between introspective analog textures and futuristic, mechanized ambiances. The Pulses live identity commands attention with its entrancing minimalism and undulating melodies, carefully calibrated in a covert dub techno laboratory. Dumoulin and Tremblay also align their synthetic sound trails with the turbo-charged visual feats of digital artist and experimental videographer, TiND (Francis Théberge), whose practice explores the far-reaching rhythmic relationship between images and music. The AV trio hit the hometown stage at MUTEK with the international premiere of Subversion, an immersive, non-linear landscape made of mysterious dub mountains and intergalactic visual valleys.
