AV imaginings - audio reactive, interactive, and projection based works, are becoming standard presentation across genres of music. A DIY A/V has not only become possible, it suggests a whole new form of experience and an emerging critical language. Because of a maturing literacy with the technologies, and ubiquitous and intuitive tools, issues have shifted from purely technical concerns, to more aesthetic questions - like, how to create complex feeling or induce other states with immersive environments and synesthetic work. Is this form understood as theatre, video or computer art, or just music with blinky lights? Or - is something else happening?
