After well over a decade of crafting his own style of underground electronic music, inspired as much by Chicago house and Detroit techno as by analogueue-synth new wave and ‘80s video games, Windsor, Ontario-born Marc Houle still surprises with every live performance, adjusting to the atmosphere of a club or a massive outdoor festival by pulling out tracks that consistently stun. Named one of Resident Advisor’s Top 20 Live Acts of 2013, Houle counts multiple albums, EPs and remixes as part of his repertoire, on labels such as Richie Hawtin’s Berlin-based Minus and his own prolific imprint Items & Things, co-founded with producers Troy Pierce and Magda. In 2012, Houle made some of his signature sounds publicly accessible via a Remiix app developed by tech company, Liine. In 2013 alone, Houle worked on releases with techno luminaries Miss Kitten and Click Box, and launched moody synth-pop band La Folie with musicians Joaquim dos Santos and Clelia Cantoro. Not only does Houle arrive in the midst of several globe-spanning appearances and with a new Items & Things four-track EP, Fusion Pop, but he's also appearing as part of Richie Hawtin’s concept show, ENTER.MUTEK.
