Secret Pyramid experiments in hauntingly-ambient electronic music employing samplers, synthesizers and effects, emphasizing drones, minimalist melodies and live sound manipulation. Vancouver-based musician Amir Abbey has made music as Secret Pyramid since 2010, releasing albums on labels Students of Decay, Nice Up International, and Proposition. His most recent LP, Movements of Night, shifts from bass-heavy dirges to dream-like impressions of the orchestral. Abbey played MUTEK 2012 as part of Vancouver artist Konrad Jandav’s No UFOs, a minimalist, yet nonetheless psychedelic, krautrock, drone and noise project with releases on Spectrum Spools and Public Information. Secret Pyramid’s EM15 live set further boosts its impact with real-time, highly-textured visuals featuring aerial views of forests and other wild places, created specifically for this performance by artist and musician Billy Gomberg.
