Chilango (slang for residents of Mexico City) duo Alfredo Ramirez and Alan Aguilar create soundtracks that reflect imagined and metaphoric narratives – often consciously related to their lived environment, characterized by very real densities of population, political intensity and sound. Their music articulates itself as a kind of un-ambient: dense and atmospheric, laid back but tense, always in motion; where undercurrents of chaos from guitar and electronics often resolve in voluptuous layerings of melody and mood.

Already established artists fronting seemingly very different projects – Ramirez as the pop, soundscape leaning Me & Myself, and Aguilar as the hyperkinetic beat oriented No Light – they only realized they shared similar taste during a chance encounter over a stereo. And the End of Everything merges Ramirez's and Aguilar's production and musical concerns into an aural cinema of acoustic instruments and synthetic ingredients. Through intriguing samples and allusions, their latest release 237, teases out the conspiracy themes in Kubrick’s The Shining (and corresponding doc 237) that suggest the original moon landing was a hoax. By turns menacing and melancholic, the artists have released to great acclaim on ENSAMBLE, a Mexican label with an ear for the local electronic music scene and A/V creators.

Representing MUTEK Mexico and following their set there last year, And the End of Everything land in the Salle BWR to highlight the sonic embrace of their soundtracking.
