Heavily hardware-focused with helpings of acid as well as influences from classic second-wave techno, EOP’s joint pedigree shows clearly in the quality of their material. Part improv, part beats that know where they're going,
Two producers both well known at home and internationally, for their production skills, DJ sets and contributions to Canada’s electronic music narrative have come together as EOP. Wong is known not only for his production work as Gingy but also for his involvement in Toronto’s music scene as a promoter and community-building force. He contributed to the successful Foundry festival and more recently for founded Toronto’s progressive It's Not U It's Me collective to collaboratively promote DIY electronic music events in the city, harnessing local and international talent while taking care to create safe and inclusive spaces. Kevin McPhee, a prodigious Canadian producer and key player in Toronto’s electronic music community for the last decade, crafts intricate dance tracks that cut a spacious path through rickety sampled house, bass music and forceful, sometimes even melancholic, techno. He has released on labels such as 3024, had a mix featured by Resident Advisor and also opened for John Talabot on his DJ Kicks Tour.
The result of many months of machine wrangling, tinkering and practice, MUTEK is pleased to present the world premiere of Wong and McPhee as EOP.
