Errorsmith has blazed a trail for building glorious chaos out of digital logic: his meticulous dance grooves flip and switch, riddled with timbral changes, a deviant dancehall pulse and heartfelt android vocals. Dedicated to expanding the sonic horizon through digital sound synthesis, Errorsmith turns punchy raw techno into an optimistic emotional journey.

A professional background in communications and computer science lead Wiegand to develop his own digital instruments, an evolving, customized process that forms the multidirectional basis of his influential dancefloor tracks and high-energy explorations. Errorsmith carved his own path from the start, comfortable alone and in collaboration. He's paired with Berghain resident Fiedel since 1996 on the delirious dancefloor techno of MMM and with Soundstream aka Soundhack as disco and funk addled electro duo Smith N Hack. After 11 years without a release as Errorsmith, Wiegand took up the name again when he partnered on 2015's absorbing Protogravity EP with British producer Mark Fell, who as Sensate Focus defined his sound palette using Wiegand's synth plug-in Razor. The latest, Superlative Fatigue (six years in the making and mastered by Rashad Becker), premiered live at Unsound in 2017. The album balances its wild emotional and rhythmic excesses with a deeply felt anchor of sincerity—Errorsmith is still making music he loves and making it to be heard, danced to and celebrated.

Live, Errorsmith plays closer to a rock star than a DJ, improvising deftly with real-time sound synthesis on his self-made digital tools. He hits Sónar, Poland's Tauron Nowa Muzyka festival and Amsterdam's Dekmantel before freeing a new improvised set of angular grooves and raucous, exuberant beats at MUTEK.
