Exploring the outer limits of both sound and vision, the music of Teo Zamudio ranges from melodic and bouncy to drone-heavy, static-laden techno brimming with tension and paranoia. His imagistic sound hangs on the extremes of the spectrum, channeling both cold, dark Québecois winter evenings and blissed-out, breezy Iberian mornings-after.
Originally from Mexico City, now based in Montréal, Zamudio's skill set as a designer, web developer, artist and musician fuses many senses. In his role as an art director, he has worked with clients such as Jon Rafman, Turbo Recordings and Ryan Hemsworth. A co-founder and active member of susy.technology, a research and performance collective dedicated to the creation of experimental and socially aware audiovisual work, he contributes both musically and visually, his specialties lying in mapping, projection, motion design and installations. As a musician, his latest four-track EP AM, a jazz and Latin-tinged techno indulgence of the highest order, was released last year via Barcelona’s Xenonyms.
Zamudio returns to the MUTEK stage with an all-new, balearic-infused live set when the festival moves uptown to the Virage on Sunday.
