Setting the tone for post-underground, DIY queer parties in Montréal for the past few years, Frankie Teardrop mixes with an emotional arc, connecting with dancers in moody melodic techno, house and ricocheting acid.

Frankie Teardrop may have come to Montréal to play varsity soccer for Concordia University, but in the past four years they've made an indelible mark on the city as a queer-centred events promoter and DJ. That inclusive DIY spirit stemmed from volunteering with Faggity Ass Fridays, an inclusive and wild monthly fundraiser party for non-profit health organization Head & Hands. Inspired to create more nightlife space for LGBTQ folks, they founded ongoing queer-centred party LIP and co-founded the queer and feminist Slut Island Festival with Ethel Eugene, prioritizing marginalized artists within the local and international DJ scenes. As a queer non-binary person themself, Frankie Teardrop has carried their events promotion and underground DJ skills over into wider recognition, throwing Montréal Discwoman events and mixing at Piknic Électronik, Igloofest, S.A.T Domesicle parties, Never Apart's Nuit Blanche party, Datcha (opening for Aurora Halal), NYC's Technofeminism, Vancouver's Babes on Babes and Bodyheat among many.

At MUTEK, Frankie Teardrop talks more about their approach to events and music in a panel discussion on diversity in curation on Wednesday, and then heads outdoors on Sunday afternoon to DJ a set at the Red Bull Music Hors Circuit event.
