Making It: Organizations, Networks, Connectors

A series of illuminating presentations from women involved in forward-thinking organizations and initiatives.

Roxane Halary: 22 Years of Creation, Exploration and Critical Reflection in Media Arts Through a Feminist Lens

Founded in 1996 in Montreal, Studio XX is the only bilingual artist-run center in Canada that supports technological experimentation, creation and critical reflection in media arts under a feminist lens. The presentation will showcase how Studio XX supports feminist artist communities through the production of artworks in digital art through artists’ residencies by providing space, equipment and specialized resources; the dissemination through the presentation and promotion of artistic works as well as training through workshops and activities. Studio XX also produces the festival HTMlles, a feminist media arts and digital culture biennial. Its 13th edition will take place in November 2018.

Natalie Mets: Connecting the Dots in Estonia

A Keychange innovator from Estonia, Natalie will detail her personal experiences working on different projects in culture, education, design and nightlife, including her failed attempt to connect the music scenes of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania with a pan-Baltic platform; co-launching an online radio station connecting 130 DJs and thinkers, and her ambition to become the night mayor of Tallinn.

This event takes place in English.
