This conceptual artistic research workshop by media art curator Natalia Fuchs and media artist Helena Nikonole examines artificial intelligence as a concept, neural networks as a tool, and research-based curatorial solutions as an approach. The Work of Art in the Age of Artificial Intelligence has become a global research-community platform for artists, curators and technology specialists.
Framed by their experiences working in new media art and its relationships to new technologies, Natalia and Helena will guide participants through queries they would like investigated through AI— helping them develop a research methodology and to select the instrument and form the algorithm will employ. Participants will then test specific tools and evaluate the results relative to their expectations, while building an understanding of the process of AI in generating outputs as it learns.
Participants are asked to bring their laptops installed with browsers Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome, and have a Google account ready to work with. Further instructions will be sent in advance.
*This activity is only available to holders of three-day tickets: IMG Passport and IMG Conference Pass. Registration is mandatory and instructions will have been sent by email.
