Presentation: An Encounter with the Hexagram Network

Hexagram is a Montréal-based, internationally engaged network dedicated to research-creation in the fields of media arts, design, technology and digital culture. Participating faculties include Concordia, UQAM, UdeM, McGill, UQAC [NAD], ÉTS, UQAT.

Hexagram members imagine and investigate our digital futures via multifold practical and theoretical considerations, from 5G to climate change, from migration to digital togetherness—just to name a few. Their research-creation practice spans/takes on a wide variety of visual digital creation outputs, including virtual world building, experimental film making, alternative video games, interactive light installation, generative video works, collective mixed reality experiment, and much more.

Kicking off a new collaboration between MUTEK and the Hexagram Network that aims to build bridges between the fields of education and research—and practitioners of digital arts and industry, this activity will feature a series of presentations by Hexagram members, showcasing the ingenuity and creativity of thinkers and artists operating at the forefront of research-creation.

Opening keynotes will be delivered by Jean Dubois, Co-Director of Hexagram and professor at Université du Québec à Montréal, and Bart Simon, faculty member of Hexagram and professor at Concordia University, where he also directs the Milieux Institute for Arts, Culture and Technology.
Aiming to inspire but also to create opportunities for collaboration, this event is followed by a networking lunch connecting members of the field of education and research and practitioners of digital arts and industries.
