Sandra Rodriguez, PhD is a Creative director (interactive immersive), filmmaker and a sociologist of new media technologies. As a filmmaker, she directs, writes and produces award-winning documentaries presented internationally—before moving into the interactive realm. She currently directs VR/AR projects, works as a UX consultant and mentor for public and private media, and hackathons. An author of numerous articles and a book on networked cultures, she is a regular public speaker on immersive media and digital storytelling, human-centred design, AI and creativity. Sandra recently headed the Creative Reality Lab at EyeSteelFilm, an Emmy-award winning company based in Montréal, where she explored new futures for non-fiction storytelling, including Deprogrammed, Big Picture VR and MANIC VR. Sandra is also a visiting scholar and artist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she leads MIT’s first course in immersive media production (in collaboration with Oculus: Hacking VR MIT).
