Howling wolves, wind through the trees and late-night bonfires come in contact with original melodies and crackling radio voices in Tokiomi Tsuta's music, carried by a steady leftfield supply of underwater beats.

Inspired by the natural world around him in coastal British Colombia, Tokiomi records sounds on the west coast's most spectacular beaches, rainforests and mountainsides and at home in his daily urban life, from downtown streets to his kitchen to back yard. He honed his sampling skills on Japanese hip hop beats in high school, altering his style into a free form ambient exploration as his sources expanded to music from around the world along with his own deep-listening with his own field recordings. His recent digital single with Vancouver's ADSR indie-electronica collective pairs sparkling melodies and beach sounds with gutsy bass.

In performance, he uses an AKAI APC40, Korg Electribe and other machines to bring his soundscapes to life — transporting us into his version of west-coast wilderness.
