MUTEK wins 25th Grand Prix du Conseil des arts de Montréal!
23 de marzo de 2010
Yesterday afternoon during a crowded luncheon at the Montreal Sheraton, Conseil des Arts de Montréal president Louise Roy announced that MUTEK was the recipient of the 25th Grand Prix du Conseil des Arts de Montréal! The honour, which is shared with the Elektra Festival, establishes the digital arts among the pantheon of Montreal’s other great art forms.
Chosen from a high-caliber list of finalists representing eight artistic disciplines, we take great pleasure in this recognition of its first decade’s efforts. With the award, the Conseil des Arts de Montréal has also delivered its vote of confidence for a new generation of daring, contemporary cultural events to represent the city’s creative future, both at home and abroad. As a result, the festival organization is heartened by the city’s encouragement and looks forward to an even brighter second decade of operations, beginning with this year’s 11th edition.
As the city’s most highly regarded cultural prize, each year the Grand Prix du Conseil des arts de Montréal selects organizations that have made remarkable contributions to the evolution of their disciplines, which include digital arts, visual arts, film, dance, literature, music, new artistic practices and theatre. 2010 constitutes the first year that the Grand Prix has created a category for the digital arts , making MUTEK’s win especially honourable.
