Artist Spotlight: Elektro Guzzi
07 de abril de 2011
An intuitive live-electronics trio with a knack for stealing the spotlight from whomever has the misfortune of sharing their stage, Elektro Guzzi are an Austrian force to be reckoned with. Organic, improvised techno has constituted a growing trend with a new generation of club enthusiasts who come with a musical pedigree and a preference for the warmth of analogue sounds, and Bernhard Hammer, Jakob Schneidewind and Bernhard Breuer fit the bill expertly with their two well-received albums on Stefan Goldmann’s Macro imprint. 2010’s eponymous debut initiated the formula of these three precise musicians borrowing a mould first delivered by fellow countrymen Radian and evolving it along a deep techno grid. This year’s Live P.A. takes the process one step further and sees the band entering the studio to record tracks in one take with no overdubs, mixed and produced by Patrick Pulsinger, a pioneer of Vienna’s electronic music scene and co-founder of the highly influential Cheap Records label.
