The lucky thirteenth edition of MUTEK in Mexico City runs October 19 to 23, 2016 at various venues in the heart of the city. With its established reputation as a showcase for the vibrant local and national scene and as a crucial connection between Mexico and the international circuit of cutting edge electronic and audiovisual artists, the festival promises another year of mind and body bending programming. Unparalleled in its curation and production values, MUTEK.MX has cemented its importance in one of the world’s most dynamic and ascendant cities as an essential forum for those those looking for innovation, revelation and to the future.
Additionally this year, the festival is proud to partner with Hennessy Very Special, a brand that works in tandem with the festival’s own creative impulses to cultivate new experiences and new audiences. With its similar emphasis on “unexpected blendings” the festival looks forward to presenting artistic works that explore the same fundamentals of taste-making, including the launch of a new series of pre-festival experiences called NANO_MUTEKs (details below).
With many more names to come, including local luminaries, emergent talents and more international artists and projects, the festival is thrilled to reveal the first names in what will be another exhilarating adventure in contemporary electronic and digital arts:

NANO_MUTEK #1 in Collaboration with Hennessy Very Special
Designed to offer unique and intimate experiences with a focus on premieres, commissioned collaborations, extended sets and other special presentations, and to maintain momentum and presence between editions of the festival — the first in an ongoing series of NANO_MUTEK events kicks off Friday, July 22 at Foro Normandie, CDMX.
NONOTAK’s Takami Nakamoto returns to Mexico City to present SOMBRA, the world premiere of a collaboration with Mexican studio/*pac Interactive. The project explores the notion of shadows through the invention of a controlled platform of light, transforming the artist’s silhouette into a multitude of profiles through the clash between illumination, volumetric mapping techniques and the architectural environment.
