Musique Risquée
Since 2007, MUSIQUE RISQUÉE has become the official label of the MUTEK organization.  Musique Risquée has picked up the fine catalogue and well-earned efforts of the festival’s pre-existing MUTEK_REC label, and combined them with its own catalogue. For years, these two prestigious techno imprints have been on a similar musical path and have shared many of the same artists.  The union of the two imprints only makes official what has been happening naturally for years.

MUSIQUE RISQUÉE (2003 - present)

Musique Risquée is the label founded in 2003 by Marc Leclair (aka Akufen) after the profound success of his debut album My Way.  Founding partner include Vincent Lemieux, who still manages the label, Scott Monteith (aka Deadbeat) and Stephen Beaupré.  To date, the imprint has issued fourteen singles, which include the likes of Akufen, Crackhaus (Scott Monteith + Stephen Beaupré), Atom TM, and Philippe Cam, among others.  The latest releases include works by The Mole and Jichael Mackson.  Historically, Musique Risquée has maintained very close relations with MUTEK_REC; apart from sharing some artists, Musique Risquée issued the vinyl version of Stephen Beaupré’s Foe Destroyer album, which originally appeared on CD via MUTEK_REC.

MUTEK_REC (2001 - 2007)

MUTEK_REC was originally founded in 2001, as a platform to release the annual compilation that accompanied the MUTEK Festival.  Early releases also included collaborations with Eric Mattson’s ORAL imprint and featured experimental electronic and ambient albums by Goem, Richard Chartier + Ivan Pavlov, and the Quality Hotel album, a strong collaboration by Stephan Mathieu, Radboud Mens, Janek Schaefer, and Timeblind.  In 2003, MUTEK_REC began to build its own roster with the release of Egg’s Don’t Postpone Joy.  Albums by Skoltz_Kolgen, Crackhaus, Marc Leclair, Skipsapiens (Chileans Pier Bucci + Daniel Nieto) and Stephen Beaupré followed.  Along the way, the imprint also issued singles by all those artists, as well as acts like The Mole, Luci, J. Hunsberger and Ernesto Ferreyra.
