Accomplished graphic and multimedia artist, Richard Chartier has produced multiple pieces for labels like 12k/LINE, Trente Oiseaux, Spekk, MUTEK_REC or Fallt; his sonic installations have been presented at numerous biennales and international exhibitions. Having created the LINE label in 2000, his work explores the interrelations among the natural spatiality of sound, silence, and the art of listening.

Taylor Deupree and Richard Chartier operate the 12k and Line microsound imprints respectively. As well as presiding over their mp3 sub-label, Term, they have recently launched a series of releases called "Music for iPods."Artists in their own right, both Deupree and Chartier have carved out a highly respected niche for themselves in the sphere of minimal electronic music.
For his 2001 appearance at MUTEK, Richard Chartier worked alongside Matmos to film their performance in real-time, which he then used to compose a visually compelling backdrop to the live performance itself.
