Devon Hansen (CA)

Electronic producer, musician and video artist Devon Hansen becomes beat driven and club oriented as Stefan Jós – almost the flip side to the intellectually intriguing minimal techno, field recordings and electroacoustic music of his d.hansen moniker and a further textured, big venue expansion of the emotive music he’s made as Lotide – yet the Montreal-based California-born producer still pushes the possibilities of club music as mindful and detailed, often filmic, with the ability to change the atmosphere of any space he plays. As Stefan Jós he’s released dub techno tracks on the UK tape label Where to Now?, the melodic split release We Live Here with Austin Cesear on the UK’s Opal Tapes, and the groove guided hypnotically echoey 2015 EP Things You Left Behind on Japan’s Flau records. His live set at MUTEK comes just as Flau releases the first Stefan Jós full length, Primitives (mastered by Miles Whittaker of Demdike Stare), a beautifully restrained album of moody rhythms and minimalistic textures.
